Developing a daily time with God (beginner level)
The most important thing to do to have a daily time with God, is to set a time and place.
Matthew 6:5 "And whenthou prayest, thou shalt not be as the hypocrites are: for they love to pray standing in the synagogues and in the corners of the streets, that they may be seen of men. Verily I say unto you, They have their reward. Mat 6:6 But thou, when thou prayest, enter into thy closet, and when thou hast shut thy door, pray to thy Father which is in secret; and thy Father which seeth in secret shall reward thee openly. This doesn't mean an actual closet like we have today, but rather a secluded place where you can be alone without interruptions, so you can fellowship with God alone.. You will not be able to fellowship very well, if there are distractions. I suggest a quiet place free from people, noises, tv's, phones, etc. If you are new to spending time with God and /or area new believer, I would highly suggest reading one chapter per day from the Gospel of John. No other book of the Bible talks about your believing in God more. I would also recommend taking a pen and circling all forms of the word believe, believed, and believing, and counting how many times the words appear in the book. You will be very impressed with the number of times it appears. Before reading the chapter, ask God to open your understanding and help you to learn what he wants you to for that day. I find it helps me concentrate if I read the chapter out loud. After reading a chapter, spend a few minutes in prayer asking God to help you through your day, guiding you, and helping you to live for Him. You can also include any special needs and request you might have. When you have done this for a month, go back and start the book over again. You will be SURPRISED to see what you learn the second time through, that you didn't learn the first time. This will show you, you are learning andgrowing in the Lord!
